Samburu National Reserve covers 165 square kilometres of arid, semi-desert terrain approximately 350 kilometres north of Nairobi. This harsh environment is sustained entirely by the lifeblood of the Ewaso Nyiro River, which attracts wildlife found nowhere else in Kenya. Umoja Campsite is a temporary bush camp situated on a seasonal plot within the reserve, constructed to provide guests with direct, unfiltered access to the game-rich riverine ecosystems famous for the Samburu Special Five: the Grevy's zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and beisa oryx.

Individual guest tents do not have power outlets, and no Wi-Fi service is available anywhere in the camp, enforcing a true "digital detox" for all visitors.
